This is the last place you want to find yourself at if you're in a hurry, If you do visit this place prepare yourself to sit here for hours. It stays very busy but this place does their job. Starting with security being very accurate and that's for everyone's safety. I would recommend to only bring the people being addressed. This place is quite large but it gets filled completely. I saw many standing along the back wall. Staffing here is limited making the wait longer so be prepared with any and all paperwork possible. I googled any documents needed to avoid any delays. We arrived at about 1230pm and departed at closing leaving at 5:20pm. Our representative was very knowledgeable and helpful with tips and changes to come. Of course we asked every question possible and he helped us out with all our needs and kept in the loop to the best avenues to take in the future to have online access. We were in window 23 and I hate that I can't remember the reps name but he was amazingly friendly and just a wealth of information. But overall I would like to thank the employees for working so diligently. I know due to government changes, they are short handed which makes the work load heavier to these who are here. So treat them with respect because these are the few that refuse to leave and continue to serve our community. They maintain these locations open as government continues to plan to close these offices and only assign the state Capitol to have these SSI offices. So call your congressmen or congresswoman and voice your opinions. In the future we can find ourselves driving to Austin. So thank you to all the employees that show up daily and help San Antonio. We appreciate your work and I know people's attitudes doesn't help but it's not easy to sit there for hours. But it must be done in many cases.

I needed to visit the Social Security Administration to take care of something. There are two ways to get an appointment to the local SSA on Isom Road. (1) You can either call the 1 800 number and ask for an appointment to be made on your behalf (assuming the agent can't address your request over the phone). (2) you can show up and roll the dice as you basically become a walk-in or unscheduled appointment - and the odds of being seen are 50/50, because the hours are 9 AM - 4 PM - M - F. If you choose (2) try and arrive right around the time the doors open to improve your odds of being seen. Note, I am not sure if you can do an appointment through this SSA.Gov website. I know that when I attempted this about a year ago, it wasn't possible to make an appointment through the website. You had to call the 1 800 number, speak to an agent and have them book an appointment for you. Anyway, I arrived, went through the security checkpoint, and went to the kiosk to check-in. After check-in I was provided a ticket. I took my ticket, found a seat, and waited patiently for my number to be called. Note, I should mention that the display showing the numbers and windows is not reflective of real-time updates. At least, this was the case when I visited ==> Listen to the ticket number being called over the loudspeaker and the window for that ticket to be served.

Waited an hour and a half had to leave due to emergency run. Only disappointed because all I had to do was have them make a copy of my marriage ceft and show my ID so it could be fax to another for pending app already done just waiting for that 1 item to be faxed. I would think on those situations when you have to appear in person for a copy and fax that they would set a person up to take care of that quick thing. Impossible to call for appt because ur on hold for 2 or 3 hrs than they close, can't do it on internet because they have to verify original copy, so that's what I found a little irritating. Go back tomorrow try again. Tried again to make apps time over the phone but another hour and half and they just close.

Lady at the window was so rude and not helpful. Asked for a supervisor and didn’t offer any help just told us to wait 2 hours. I asked the security guard for help to get a supervisor and another security guard starts talking rude and ugly. Obviously he was on a power trip. I do not recommend coming to this office.

Massively inefficient and unproductive. Online system to make appointments doesn't work. Phone calls ring forever and are never answered. Many services require appointments but you can't make an appointment. If you come in person, they direct you to get a ticket, then tell you if you don't have an appointment, they purposely will not call your ticket number. If you get to the desk (after 3 hours of waiting), they tell you you have to have an appointment. Then they tell you there are no appointments. This man looked me straight in the face and told me in one breath I have to have an appointment. Then in the next breath told me there are no appointments to be had.
