One of the most unnecessarily difficult experiences I’ve had with a government office. Applying for a replacement Social Security card for a minor should not require multiple trips, conflicting instructions, and pulling a child out of school during finals. We originally completed this process in February, and the card was apparently returned by USPS and never delivered. After getting no meaningful follow-up from the post office, we had to start over. This time, we were told documents that had previously been accepted were no longer acceptable. The information provided in person did not clearly align with what is listed online. We were sent to the school for additional documentation, only to learn the school does not even provide what SSA supposedly required for this purpose. Ultimately, after pulling my daughter out of school during final exams and making yet another trip, the application was processed anyway. To make matters worse, the school required documentation to excuse the absence, but SSA does not provide any type of excuse note or visit verification for that purpose. The staff did process the request in the end, but the overall experience felt inconsistent, confusing, and far more complicated than it should ever be for replacing a child’s Social Security card.

I made my appointment, waited for the date, and went in. The security guards were helpful in directing me as it was my first time and the representatives were very polite and friendly! It wasn't even more than 20 minutes total and I was in and out. These guys are great!

I waited 2 hours to see a representative and when I got to the window the representative was completely rude 😕 uncompassionate with my delima completely unwilling to help. I had to call 🤙 my US Representative for my zip code to voice my complaint. Then waited 30 more minutes spoke with a supervisor, which I suspected wasn't even a supervisor, she then told me the same thing that Jesse did. I was having an emergency 🦺 situation & needed dire need assistance 🐕‍🦺 and nobody could help or even pretend to care. I didn't get home 🏠 until 9pm at night 🌉. I recommend you go to another office or do you business over the phone if you can. Gave them 1 star ⭐ because of the negative experience I had yesterday. They can do better!

Went in to get a name change because I got married. Had an appointment so I thought I set back on Nov , 24 2025. When I got there 2nd in line. she asks why I was there. She says sorry you don't have an appointment. Auh, yes I do otherwise I would have taken time off from work and drive across town. The lady ask are you sure you have the right location, me Yes! I have it on my calendar when they called me to and told where and when to come, so here I am. So she tells again sorry your not on the list....dismissing me by saying NEXT. Instead of trying to help me figure out why I was not on the list. because I know I made the appoint over a month ago... So I stood there and ask so what do I do now? she say call the 1800 # to see where you set the appointment because it was not here...again NO compassion or good customer service skills, very cold. She say maam have a set if you like I can see you when I am ready with the ones that do have an appointment, but I can tell you know if you don't have an appointment I won/t be able to do anything other then set up an appointment. Now if you know according to you I don't have one why the hell would I sit here all danm day and wait for you to tell me his...NEXT . So I ask the security guard he was not pleasant all either to give the phone number to call the appointment line. Well come to find she can see when I called to set the appointment BUT who ever set it forgot to SAVE it to get it in the system, now is that my fault? She gave me an apology and said if you ask to speak with a supervisor and let them know you do have an appointment we just messed up, they should be able to help you. So keeping her on line, I ask the happy security guard if he can get me supervisor and he says Rudley your where speaking with her...oh Lord like I am supposed to know that!!! and i though doesn't look like I am getting anywhere. So i had the lady on the phone so she could let her know and help, but that supervisor didn't want to hear it she didn't seem to care that I took my TIME to be here on time and it was there mistake NOT mine. She said Sorry with the stupid look on her face. YOU have to have an appointment disregarding everything I just told her didn't even want to speak with the lady on the phone. So my husband was with me and being a New Yorker he was not as nice letting them know they where full of it for NOT even trying to help she tell him well sir we only have two employees and herself and like she said before we can sit down and wait like everyone else. So before we left my husband gave them a peace his mind as we are walking into the elevator and he stand Infront of the door with his arms crossed like we are supposed to scared or something. I will never go back the that location again. Hope my next experience at the one on Isom will be better now I just have to wait another week or so...ughhhh

Man, let me tell you somethin’. Today I took —my pop—to get his address changed and renew his award letter. You’d think that’d be easy, right? WRONG. This place was like the DMV and the Hunger Games had a baby. First, we go through security like we’re boarding a flight to Area 51. Metal detectors, pat-downs—I was waiting for TSA to show up with a glove. But fine, whatever. We get to the 7th floor, grab a ticket from the kiosk, and wait. Then we get called to Window 2. And the lady there? RUDE. I mean rude rude. Like, “I hate my job and I want you to hate your life too” rude. I wasn’t even mad about the wait—I was mad about the attitude or having to reschedule an appointment again! I’m just tryin’ to help my dad, and she’s lookin’ at me like I stole her lunch. Then we go to the next window, and this dude—Hispanic guy—he’s got the same energy. I tell him, “We need an award letter and a new SSI card.” He’s like, “Okay, I’ll update the address.” What?! That’s like going to a restaurant and ordering steak, and they bring you a napkin. Bro, LISTEN! We got it done, thank God. But if I ever have to go back there? I’m bringin’ snacks, a sleeping bag, and a therapist.
