The security guard said I need an appointment but I was there to make an appointment so he wasn't any help so I get in line while he tells me you don't want to do that bc of the wait like him hiding that I could walk in was helping me. Then my number gets pulled but the bigger lady says shes been doing these passive aggressive announcements (wasting time) that I need an appointment to get a new social security card but I inform her that I'm here to make that appointment so someone finally she did there job and she made my appointment while being rude and passive aggressive. If I could have done it online I would but I got a new number that wasn't on there record so I wasn't able to make an appointment. No one knows what they are doing or just doesn't want to do their job and need to be pushed too all while being ridiculous rude.

Got in line at 8:30A on November 21st and at 9A the security Officer opened the door to allow those with appointments in first ... then those without appointments (us). He was professional courteous and in control. Once inside the coordinator checked folks in and made sure they had a number. She was also pleasant and helpful to everyone. We waited for about 20 minutes, and our number was called (and also appeared on the monitor) and we were directed to window 4. We were helped by Randy who was smiling, friendly, courteous and efficient. Within minutes he resolved our need, and we were on our way. We can't say enough good about the help & service we received from the folks at this SSA office.

3 to 5 hours waiting just to speak to someone. The government needs to do better you can’t get help on the phone or office.

This is not a customer service center. It's the SSA office in south Austin. My wait wasn't horrible but not ideal. Informed on my visit that all of the SSA agency nationwide is severely short staffed, especially the local public serving offices. Most days, there are only 2 windows open to assist walkins. There are a handful of other employees there, but they only do the phone appointments for benefits, and there is a lengthy ongoing wait list for those appointments. Told wait time for an appointment is 2-3 months! Ultimately, I got the info I needed, it just took alot longer than I would've liked. Giving 4 stars because the staff is clearly stressed and doing the best they can with the little they got, and as a former federal employee, I can relate.

Social security office I need the headquarters to approve allowing soc sec clients to save money above $2000 or the $3000 dollars allowed we need to be able to save money for costly items like electric wheel-chair which can cost about $4000 easily for just one person and walker which runs about $100 dollars for one good one and save for eye glasses exam /prescription and frames later for stronger ones so we need social security office and headquarters to approve allowing us to save money for these items I do not feel insurance policy do a good job covering these items it's been claimed by people that people go into homes and steal the new glasses/frames back when covered by insurance policys I need local soc sec staff to get their headquarters staff to approve being able to save a lot of money for these items more then the $2000 or $3000 dollars allowed presently a electric wheel-chair cost about $4000 just for one alone and walker for a good one about $100dollars and when we get older in life we will need them items by k.e.sackett. 3/24/1963 whitelady/3030/Austin Texas date march 2 3-2025
