2026 May: Unfortunately, on the day I visited this location the Social Security Administration representative was disrespectful, rude and unkind by not valuing the time of others. The reason for the visit was not accomplished due to the inconsideration of the representative and unprofessional service provided. There are other locations in the City of San Francisco and for the most part their representatives are treating people with respect making an attempt to resolve the reason for the peoples visit.

Stay away from this office they’ll just call security on you. My father filed for retirement and the guy on the phone was so incredibly rude. My dad couldn’t ask a single question, the guy said flat out said this appointment is not for questions and if we had questions we needed to make another appointment. My dad and I are not familiar with social security and we had some questions nothing crazy but the guy could be bothered to help him. He also threatened he’d reschedule because my dad couldn’t answer his questions. It got so frustration that we requested to reschedule but he couldn’t even do that he said we had to call again and make another appointment . We were able to finish but his guy was simply terrible like quite your job if you don’t want to help people. He was rude and just didn’t care. My dad finished the application but we had go to the office and provide some documents. While there we saw a guy at window 1 being so mean to people and would call security on people to have them escorted out because they asked too many questions. Come to find out it was the guy who help my dad, we found out his name was Alan. Someone else helped my dad that day and she was really nice and made copies of my dads documents and made us feel so much better and his application but that guy is just unbelievable. Do better social security.

I scheduled this appointment one month in advance for January 22 at 1:40 PM. I arrived one full hour early, checked in properly, and received ticket number A344. I was respectful, patient, and followed all the rules. Despite this, they completely skipped my number. I watched them call A345, then later A349, including people with 2:00 PM appointments, while my number was never called. After noticing this, I went to the counter and calmly explained that I had a 1:40 PM appointment. The only response I received was, “We’re running late.” Running late does not justify skipping people who arrived early and had earlier appointments. The staff were dismissive, unhelpful, and showed zero accountability. No effort was made to fix the mistake or even acknowledge it. I waited for hours and was never called. I planned my entire day around this appointment, and it was completely wasted. This experience was extremely stressful, emotionally draining, and left me in tears. The lack of professionalism and basic respect here is shocking. Appointments clearly mean nothing at this place. I do not recommend this location to anyone. If you value your time, fairness, and respectful treatment, please go somewhere else. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Amazing government office. Went there after my morning walk. 15 minutes to find the building, 2 minutes for my number to arrive, 2 minutes to resolve the issue. Back home for my breakfast. Kudos to those folks for working hard despite cuts. Key is to skip lunch time queues.

Went on Friday December 19th morning 9am and it was pretty empty. Had an online appointment for a later date but was able to checkin with a walk-in. No queues outside. But limited employees and 3-4 windows were active inside. Had to wait for around 30mins before my ticket number was called and the whole process of first time SSN application only took 5mins and walked out. Good experience overall.
