my only question is, why is everybody in that building so miserable? it wasnt busy or anything and i get that nobody really likes working but they act like im ruining their whole lives for asking a damn question, already bad enough i gotta wait an hour for an appointment smfh

Insane. Are you trying to make an appointment for a NEW SOCIAL SECURITY CARD? The website says you had better make an appointment or risk being turned away. Of course nothing is provided to efficiently do this online, so you have to call in. If you call the national SS number, the stated hold time is close to 120 minutes! Then if you call the Honolulu branch, on hold about 15 minutes. The rep said no need to make an appointment, just walk in. (???) She says for social security cards they don't take appointments. I told her all of the SS websites tell you to make an appointment for a new card or risk getting turning away. She said oh they haven't updated the website since covid. Hello? Can you imagine the thousands of people who visit their websites daily reading the wrong information?! Bottom Line: if you are in Honolulu and need a new SS card, ignore the website instructions. Walk into the facility, you cannot make an appointment in the first place. If you have any other issue with SS benefits/etc. then you have to make an appointment if you decide to go in. But, if you trust their website instructions there may be other ways to accomplish your issue (online, mail, etc.) Good luck!

Called everyday to try to get a hold of my representative so we could talk about my Medicare application. I called everyday, numerous time, left many voice mail every time I called, but no one ever answered nor returned my call. Got fed up with my representative so I called the office main line instead, waited for 1 hour on the phone to try to get someone to answer and got hung up on. I called the national phone number to report this incidence. My application will get denied by tomorrow if I could not speak to my rep.according to the letter they sent me.This is all because my rep. never does he job and no one is doing their job at the Honolulu office. They are getting pay to do their job, I understand they are busy, but they need to do their job! People’s medicare and social security application depend on them.

I had an appointment to verify my online application, and bcs I had to see a senior official I actually waited an hour past my appt time while he was serving another client. But many people without appts (including my husband) walked in, took a number and got served before me, bcs it was not crowded and there were about 8 agents on duty. We found the agents all friendly & helpful. Only one drawback, the signs at their pkg lot said "no public parking". We werent sure if that meant SSA clients couldnt park there, so we parked at a shopping plaza east of the fed bldg & walked over. This could be an issue for disabled people.
