My experience with the SSA Office in Colorado Springs was beyond disappointing and honestly infuriating. In December, my elderly mother and I went in to pick up Medicare application paperwork. The employee who gave her the forms explicitly told us that they check the turn-in box twice a day and that once the paperwork was dropped off, they would get on it right away. That turned out to be completely untrue. When my mother later went in to check on the status of her paperwork today that she turned in on January 13th, she was told they actually have 30 days to even begin processing the paperwork. That timeline was never communicated to us. Had we been given accurate information, we could have planned accordingly instead of being misled. As upsetting as that was, what happened next was even worse. As my mother was leaving the office today, she fell. There were three to four SSA employees standing nearby who witnessed this—and not one of them offered help or assistance. They just stood there and did nothing. Considering I was not with her to offer my assistance, I am absolutely dumbfounded that not one of them bothered to offer assistance. I understand offices can be understaffed and overworked, but there is absolutely no excuse for a lack of basic human decency, especially toward an elderly person who has just fallen. This office showed poor communication, poor accountability, and a shocking lack of compassion. This experience left us angry, disappointed, and deeply concerned for other seniors who rely on this office for help.

This office could really use a cleanup with their customer service. I have been a government employee (in Healthcare) for over 20yrs and in my wildest dreams I never would treat a customer the way they do. Just absolutely disgusting. Lack of eye contact, eye rolls, elevated voices. Appalled. The president needs to look at this office closer and do some retraining with all their staff.

On Thursday, Feb 12th. I took my dad to his scheduled appointment in the morning. He had a discrepancy with his information. Mr. Barbra was so nice and super helpful. She assisted my dad with what he needed. Thank you so much, Ms. Barbra! We really appreciate what you do. 😉

We have gone 3 TIMES to replace my son’s social security card and they keep giving us the run around. The first time they said we didn’t have an appointment at all when we had scheduled it online and had screenshot proof. They rescheduled us and They said his school id isn’t good enough because it was “last years” it was still valid til the end of the school year. Won’t take school records because they aren’t “certified” but we contact his school district and they said what they gave us is all they have there is no such thing. So now I guess what I just give up? Thanks for nothing.

I had to make an appointment. There isn't anymore walk-ins available it is appointment only. I waited on the phone for approximately 45 mins before I was able to talk with someone. Then was set out for 2 weeks for the actual appoitment. Do not bring your vapes, pepper spray, or weapon because they will inform you not allowed in the building. Then after being searched and the wanded you go to check-in with a kiosk take a number and wait to be called. One called to the next available window your able to handle whatevwr mwans neceasary if you did your homework and know exactly what to expect. Knowing the rules of the guantlet and visting the Social Security Administration more that 11 times I was definetly prepared. Over all taking better care of my documents so I do not have to engage in this and lose a quarter of my day in doing so. Overall the safety for me and others was impecable and I was well pleased with my experience. Great staff and Great agents. Thank you all for all that you continue to do for me and the community.
